Awesome Mind Speaks is a youth-led and youth focused non-profit that aims at fostering a supportive and productive environment through normalizing mental health and wellness conversations in spaces of young people including workplaces, schools, homes, and other notable communities. Our interventions are delivered through carefully selected and intentional activities designed by youth with lived experiences and seasoned mental health service providers. Our integrational approach has activated and led to adoption of mental health strategies in various areas like Behaviour Change Communication, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Advocacy, Livelihoods and Skills development for young people and their support systems in Uganda.

Founder and Team Leader Awesome Mind Speaks

Zane advocates and creates awareness on young people's mental health in Uganda through a series of methods, with his passion and need for impactful change, He founded Awesome Mind Speaks a young people, youth-led and youth-focused organization focused on mental health for young people in Uganda. So far reached over 10000 young people with mental health information and linkage to services.

He is commendable in meaningful youth and adolescent participation, he is as a member of key coalitions /networks in Uganda that advocate for human rights like national Coalition for human rights defenders Uganda and Digital human rights lab, global mental health network, he has also participated in the Universal Periodic Review 2022 front the mental health needs and rights of young people in Uganda.

Zane he is an award winner of the 2020 sexual reproductive health and rights advocacy of the year award and the achievement award 2021 by Reach a Hand Uganda. He represented young people at the National Youth Summit organized by Ministry of Health Uganda and the different Partner. RMNCAH Youth Summit focuses on Amplifying young people’s voices for better accountability, co-ordination, and access RMNCAH services. This platform enables the young people to bring leaders to accountability of some policy issues and commitments; the platform is also used to create awareness among the young people on RMCNAH issues.

He also a SRHR Trainer-of-Trainer (TOT) a standardized, professional, and in-service certification designed to increase the availability of skilled service providers and improve practice by strengthening SRHR capacity and competencies of a broad range of professionals from different regions of Uganda jointly delivered by Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), Lira University, The International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam (ISS-EUR) and Rutgers.

Zane is a 2017 Model United delegate, the Hague Netherlands.
